It operates a series of thrift stores to raise money for its operations. The company generates income by marketing its name for antismoking nicotine patches and orange juice. American Cancer Society was founded in 1913 and is based in Atlanta, Georgia with an additional office in Austin, Texas. It was formerly known as American Society for the Control of Cancer and changed its name in 1945.
