PDM Steel Service Centers
PDM entered the steel service center industry in 1954 with the acquisition of the Proctor-James Steel Company in San Jose, California. In 1955, Kyle & Company was purchased, with facilities in Fresno, Stockton, and Sacramento. With four service centers, PDM was able to provide outstanding service throughout central and northern California. In 1962, a new facility was constructed in Fresno, California. In 1968, the existing operations were greatly augmented by the completion of a large, state of the art service center in Stockton, California. The most modern material handling equipment and strategies available were used in this facility. In 1974, a new warehouse was built in Sparks, Nevada to improve service in the central, northern California, and northern Nevada areas.
